This has got to be, on my “Greatest Shitlist”, one of the greatest Filipino mystery: Why do most Pinoys spit in the unlikeliest of places (e.g., in public)?

I was alighting from the train on my way to work one day when this … person (stated in its loosest sense) approching me suddenly tilted his head to his side, gave out a long hawk from the depths of his lungs, and spat out a keeper. The spittle’s (more like an oyster to me) trajectory crossed my path, barely missing my left shoe. Which is too bad since I missed out on an opportunity to wipe the offending matter with the person’s ass.

As a daily experiment I do (also to while away the commute time) , I count the number of steps before I see another small mound of expectorated matter on the road. I averaged 5 steps before another spittoon presents itself.

This also brings to mind an office colleague. For some reason, he accentuates the ending of every sentence with a massive “zfngorkkngf“. A veritable pulmonary doctor’s wet dream.

I guess this has got to be another “Pinoy thing”.

Yey Pinas.

well-written and funny Sir Mike! Smiley

i myself do not get the reason why Pinoys are so much into spitting. they do this even at the hospital. i recall a time when i was aboard the elevator and this man let out a blood curdling, soon-to-spit mucous-like sound. ewww!

i had to walk away. fast.

keep the articles coming!

Okay. Sumakit bangs ko kakatawa! Funny post! Haha!

I also despise this "Pinoy Thing."

Nung ginawa namin sa lab experiment namin yung pagprocess ng sputum sample, [I'm a Microbiology major. =)]nahilo ako ng bonggang-bongga buong araw! As in umiikot paningin ko dahil para sa akin, yun na ang pinakakadiring bagay sa mundo. Smiley)

I could handle urine and fecal specimens but not sputum. Ugh. Iniisip ko pa lang, nahihilo na ako.

fyi.. Sputum is matter that is expectorated from the respiratory tract, such as mucus or phlegm, mixed with saliva, which can then be spat from the mouth.
